Data licences

Last updated: 21 October 2026

Every track Worldlaps generates is built from third-party open data. Their licences allow commercial use and modification in exchange for crediting the source. This page gathers those attributions, which also ship inside every generated track, and explains what they mean if you share a track.

What it means for you

  • You can share the tracks you generate, for free or for money, as long as you keep the attribution file Worldlaps leaves inside the track folder and, if you publish it on a website or forum, credit the sources in the table.
  • A generated track is a Produced Work under OpenStreetMap’s ODbL, not a derivative database: attribution is enough, you do not have to publish anything else.
  • The CC BY 4.0 licences of IGN and ESA require credit and an indication of whether you modified the data. The attribution Worldlaps includes already does that.

Assetto Corsa car models

Worldlaps can fill a track’s car parks with cars. By default it uses free (CC0) models bundled with the application, and those tracks can be shared without restriction.

Optionally, it can use the car models from your own Assetto Corsa, which belong to Kunos Simulazioni. Generating such a track for your own use is legitimate; redistributing it is not, because it contains Kunos material. The application warns you when enabling the option.

The Worldlaps software

Worldlaps is proprietary software: all rights reserved, no public repository and no licence over the code. What you are granted when buying is a licence to use the application, described in the terms of sale.

The application incorporates third-party libraries under permissive licences (BSD-3, BSD-2, MIT, Apache 2.0 and similar). Their full copyright notices are in the THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md file installed with the application, as those licences require.

Trademarks

Assetto Corsa is a trademark of Kunos Simulazioni S.r.l. Content Manager and Custom Shaders Patch are the work of their respective authors. Worldlaps is not affiliated with any of them and names them only to describe what it is compatible with.
