Every way to make a real-world Assetto Corsa track, compared
If you want to drive a real place as it is (a whole area, with its streets, buildings and terrain) without modelling, Worldlaps generates it on its own. If you would rather sculpt one circuit by hand, TreCorsa and Race Track Builder give you the tools; for total control there is Blender with BlenderGIS and ksEditor; and if you want to do nothing at all, you can commission a modder.

No Blender, no ksEditor: the whole area, ready to drive
The real difference is the approach. Track-building tools give you a canvas: you lay the road, set the camber, place walls and trees one by one. With Worldlaps you mark the area and get all of it: every street at its width, every building with its footprint, the terrain and the aerial imagery. And it comes with what you would otherwise set up by hand on a handmade track: the tarmac, grass and wall surfaces, the AI line (fast_lane.ai), the TV cameras, the map, 12 grid slots and 8 pit boxes.
All on your PC and with open data: Worldlaps needs no API key and no account, and no detour through Blender or the SDK editor. If you want to touch something up by hand afterwards, you also get the track as FBX. And Google Maps? Its terms do not allow this use; see why Google Maps is not an option for a track.
When another tool is better
Worldlaps is not the answer to everything. Pick something else if:
- You want a fantasy circuit sculpted by hand, corner by corner: TreCorsa or Race Track Builder are built for that.
- You are after a famous laser-scanned circuit: community mods based on scans are more accurate than any open data.
- You want absolute control over every mesh and material: Blender, with or without BlenderGIS.
- You play Assetto Corsa EVO or use a Mac: Worldlaps is Windows-only and for the 2014 Assetto Corsa.
And the other way round: if what you want is your hometown, the pass you ride on your bike or a proper rally stage with everything around it, generating it is far quicker than building it. The guide to making a track from a real road walks through it.
Commission a modder or generate it yourself
Commissioning a track from a modder makes sense when you want a handcrafted, one-off result: someone experienced models every detail and tunes it in the game. Most commissions go through Fiverr gigs or modders who take requests on Patreon or Discord. Price and lead time are quoted per job and depend on size and level of detail.
Generating it yourself has other upsides: you have it in minutes, you can try ten different places in an afternoon and, if something is off (the area is too small, the next road over is missing), you simply generate it again. How good it is depends on the quality of the OpenStreetMap data and of your country's terrain.

Frequently asked questions
Worldlaps vs TrackTracer or Lapwerks: what is the difference?
TrackTracer and Lapwerks are browser tools for drawing one circuit, over satellite imagery or freehand, and exporting it to Assetto Corsa; TrackTracer is aimed mostly at karting. Worldlaps runs on your PC and gives you a whole real area: every street, the buildings, the official terrain and aerial photo, plus stages and street circuits.
Is there an open-source OpenStreetMap to Assetto Corsa generator?
MapsAssetoCorsa, on GitHub, is a Python app that builds a road you pick from OpenStreetMap with lidar elevation; BlenderGIS imports OSM into Blender for the manual route. Worldlaps is not open source: it is a Windows app with a free version up to 1 km². OpenStreetMap to Assetto Corsa, step by step.
Can I edit the track in Blender afterwards?
Yes. Next to the track you can have the scene as FBX, to open it in Blender or in the SDK editor.
Is Worldlaps a TreCorsa or Race Track Builder alternative?
For driving a real place as it is, yes: it gives you the whole area ready-made instead of you tracing it by hand. For sculpting an invented circuit bend by bend, those tools are a better fit.
Is it cheaper to generate a track or commission one?
Generating it: the free version goes up to 1 km² and the full one is €19 one-time, with no limit on tracks. A commission is quoted by size and detail, and someone else builds it by hand. When each option pays off.
How much does it cost to commission an Assetto Corsa track?
There is no fixed price: modders on Fiverr, Patreon or Discord quote each job by the length of road, the buildings and the level of detail, and a town with junctions is long work. Generating it yourself costs nothing up to 1 km². Commission or generate.
Do I need to know 3D modelling?
No. You mark the area or click the roads and the app does the rest, including installing the track in the game.
